Located in Kirkcaldy's town centre, the Adam Smith Theatre is a popular venue in a traditional setting, well-loved for its high-quality shows, full-scale cinema and long history as the heart of the local arts scene.

Opened in 1899 as a memorial to social philosopher Adam Smith - now widely regarded as the father of modern economics -.this stunning theatre has an impressive facade and overlooks the Memorial Gardens and another ONFife venue, Kirkcaldy Galleries.

Enjoy a fantastically diverse and popular programme of events at this 475-seat venue, including comedy, dance, drama, music, and children's theatre. The theatre also supports and hosts local arts organisations, such as Kirkcaldy Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Societies, as well as classes and workshops.  The popular Adam Smith pantomime is much loved by all ages and a highlight of the calendar, offering a magical festive introduction to theatre for our younger audience members.

When not in use for live performances, the main auditorium becomes a cinema, showing recently released blockbusters and classic films as well as hosting mini film festivals.

The Cafe Bar serves a selection of soup, sandwiches and cakes as well as our own blend of coffee, Lang Spoon Coffee, with all profits from sales reinvested into ONFife, which is a charity.  The cafe bar is open: Mon-Sat 10am-3pm, Fri and Sat 6pm-11pm and from one hour before performances.
